- Aria's name is Italian for 'air'. An aria relates to a style of singing as well.
- Basilcum's name is Greek for 'king'. His nickname, Basil, is also a type of herb.
- Belphegor is named after the demon, Belphegor who has a relation to the sin, Sloth.
- Bianchi's name is derived from the word 'blanc' which is French for 'white'.
- Byakuran's name is Japanese for 'white orchid'.
- Chrome Dokuro's name is an anagram/pseudonym to Mukuro Rokudo: kuroomu(mukuro), dokuro(rokudo).
- Colonnello's name is Italian for 'colonel'.
- Dino's name is Italian for 'little sword'. Also derived from the Greek name, Deino meaning 'fearfully great' or 'terrible'.

- Gola Moska's name is similar to the Latin name of the sin, Gluttony(gula).
- Haru's name is Japanese for 'spring'. Her name holds no kanji form because it's written in katakana.
- I-Pin's name is derived from a popular tiles-based game in China and Japan, MahJong. Specifically, the Pinzu tiles used in the game.
- Iemitsu's name is derived from Tokugawa Iemitsu, the father of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
- Ken's name is Japanese for 'dog'.
- Lal Mirch is Hindi for 'red chili'. Lal can also be translated as 'ruby' or 'garnet' in other languages.
- Lambo's name is derived from the sports car, Lamborghini.
- Lancia's name is Italian for 'spear'.

- Tsunayoshi's nickname, Tsuna, is also Japanese for 'tuna'. It could also be translated as 27. The word tsu is how to pronounce 2 in Japanese and na is for 7. In the manga, he's seen wearing
a few clothing with the number 27 on it.
- Uni's name has many meanings depending on the flower you're looking at. Considering her family stems off lilys, the best would be Clintonia uniflora also known as 'bride's bonnet/queen's cup'
- Verde's name is Italian, Latin, and Spanish for 'green'.
- XANXUS's name contains the Roman numeral for 10. If you look closely and remove both X's and add the letter T at the end, it becomes Tsuna backwards.
× Last name meanings/ideas:
- Hibari is Japanese for 'skylark'.
- Miura is a city in Japan, but in Italy, it's one of Ferruccio's sport car models, Lamborghini Miura.
- Rokudou is Japanese for '6 realms'. Most likely reference to his 6 skills.
× Family/Organization names:
- Arcobaleno's name is Italian for 'rainbow'. Also arco means 'arch' and baleno means 'lightning' so it'd be translated as 'Arch of Lightning'.
- Bovino's name is Italian and Spanish for 'cattle'.
- Cavallone's name is Italian for 'big horse'.
- Cervello's name is Italian for 'brain'.
- Estraneo's name is Italian for 'foreign/strange'.
- Gesso's name is Italian for '(white) chalk'.
- Giglio Nero's name is Italian for 'black lily'.
- Millefiore's name is Italian for '1,000 flowers'.
- Tomaso's name is derived from an Italian car company, De Tomaso.

- Bianchi's name: Italian bicycle company, Bianchi founded by Edoardo Bianchi.
- Bianchi's nickname/tattoo: It's 'Poisonous Scorpion' and Abarth's emblem is of a scorpion.
- Bianchi's clothing: Italian car company, Abarth, in which she wears clothing with the lettering, Abarth.
- Dino's name: Italian sports car produced by the Ferrari company. Thus, the name 'Ferrari Dino'. The name is also honored by manufactor's son, Alfredino Dino Ferrari.
- Dino's nickname: It's 'Prancing Horse' and Ferrari's prancing horse emblem is called 'Cavallino Rampante'.
- Dino's tattoo: Has the tattoo of a horse (same style as the emblem). Under the horse, it reads, 'BARACCA'. Francesco Baracca, an Italian fighter ace pilot, had painted a black horse on his fuselage, which Enzo Ferrari decided to use for his car's emblem.
- Enzio's name: The Ferrari manufactor's name is Enzo Anselmo Ferrari. In the manga, Dino has a pet turtle named 'Enzio'. (Considering there's already another side character named Enzo.)
- Giannini's name: Italian car company founded by Domenico and Attilio Giannini.
- Kyoya's last name: Could of been derived from the Buick Skylark, which was produced by GM, an American car company.
- Lambo & Haru's relationship: The car, Lamborghini Miura is named after the famous bull race in Spain featuring the strongest fighting bulls, the Miura. One of Lamborghini's best models is Miura.
- Lambo's clothing: Ferruccio Lamborghini loved bulls and was a Taurus, the 'Raging Bull' became the emblem for the company.
- Lambo's name: Italian sports car company whose founder is Ferruccio Lamborghini.
- Lancia's name: Italian car company founded by Vincenzo Lancia.
- Luce's name: Japanese car company founded by Jujiro Matsuda. The name is Italian for 'light'.
- Moretti's name: Italian car company founded by Giovanni Moretti.
- Naito's tattoo: It reads 'De Tomaso' which is an Italian car company founded by an Argentinian named Alejandro De Tomaso.
- Naito's family name: Italian car company founded by an Argentinian named Alejandro De Tomaso. Longchamp, Mangusta, Pantera, and Lunga (Vallelunga) are all De Tomaso car models.
- Romeo's name: Italian car company, Alfa Romeo, founded by Alexandre Darracq and Ugo Stella.
- Shamal's name: Italian sports car company, Maserati founded by Alfieri Maserati. One of the models is called Maserati Shamal.
- Shamal's nickname: It's 'Trident Shamal' and Masterati's emblem is of a trident.
× Other observations:
- 7³ is mentioned a lot in the Future arc. This most likely refers to the 343 original boxes since 7³ equals 343.
- Bianchi's tattoo is seen on her left hand rather than her shoulder on chapter 10's title page.
- Chrome is next to a water bottle in episode 89 that reads, Artland, which is the studio the anime is being produced at.
- Fantasma's true form is shown as Ouroboros. (A serpent swallowing its own tail which forms a circle.)
- Haru sometimes wears a shirt that reads, 'SPRING' on the front. This is a reference to her name.
- Haru mentions the person, Robinson Crusoe, in chapter 30. Crusoe is a real person based on the novel with the same name.
- Hayato's dynamite say 'dunamis' on it which is actually Greek meaning, 'dynamite' or 'dynamic'.
- Hayato has a similar tattoo to Dino on chapter 13's title cover.
- Kyoya has a tattoo of a skylark on his arm on the inside cover illustration of volume 6. This is a reference to his last name.
- Kyoya has a bird design is shown inside his uniform on chapter 62's cover page. This is a reference to his last name.
- Lambo is holder of the Thunder ring which is pretty ironic as his skill consist of electricity.
- Lambo's older form, depending on where his face is facing, he will always have one eye closed. (Most of the time, it's his right eye.)
- Lambo's older form, has what looks like either the sharp note or pound symbol on the corner of his eye(s).
- Mukuro mentions the word, 'Omerta' is a vow of silence made upon the mafia. For example, if a mafia member were to murder someone, no one will even
remember or see this event. The police can't be involved in the situation as well. If you break this oath, it will lead to your death.
- Mukuro says, 'Arrivederci' right before he so-called dies. It's more of a formal way of saying, good-bye/see you later in Italian.
- Mukuro's shirt design in the Kokuyo arc is similar to the mist ring design.
- Reborn's hat is sometimes seen with eithers a red/black color scheme or orange/black scheme in earlier color pages.
- Reborn's greeting is Ciaossu. Ciao means 'hello/good-bye' in Italian. Adding the ssu is a sort of Japanese slang.
- Reborn has been seen drinking 'Hisahi', which is most likely a reference to Asahi beer.
- Romario has been seen drinking 'Fire' which is a reference to Japan's coffee drink, Kirin 'Fire'.
- Shoichi has many anemone flowers sent to him by Byakuran. The anemone has many meanings which include 'anitcipation' and 'forsaken'.
- Lambo's true eye color is green. In some colored pictures you'll either see him with green, blue, or red colored eyes, along with the same color of
bandages on his horns.
- Tsuna has a tunafish on his bedroom door with his name on it. This is a reference to his nickname.
- Tsuna receives the X-gloves. The X symbol on the glove is most likely the Roman Numeral for 10 and Tsuna is Vongola's 10th boss.
- Tsuna's Dying Will Flame is red/orange though in the game, Jump Superstars it's a blue flame (chapter
14 cover). The only other character with a blue flame is Basil, who was introduced in chapter 82.
- Tsuna looks for his name on the class list in chapter 44, his full name is shown (in kanji). In another panel, it shows his nickname instead.
× VIZ changes:
- Abarth, which repeatedly appears on Bianchi's shirts has been edited.
- Dino's family name has been changed to Chiavarone.
- Lambo's moves has been changed to Electrico Cornada.
- Lambo's family name is sometimes spelled out as Bovina.
- Pantera's name is Pantilla and Mangusta's name is Mungster.
- Lunga is mistaken for a girl.
× My OWN assumptions:
- Hayato wears a shirt that says, "Feel Good Inc." in chapter 61. This could be a reference to the British band, Gorillaz.
- Kyoya's gang can most likely be described as Yanki Furyo or Banchou from the uniforms they wear to their hair styles (pompadours).
- Lambo's name is sometimes mistaken for Rambo. Sylvester Stallone played a character named Rambo in the movie series, Rambo.
Lambo looks a little like a scrawny version of him. Notice the droopy eyes, too?^^;
- Naito is most likely based off of British rock singer from the Sex Pistols, Sid Vicious. From the hair down to the tight black pants and belted shoes!
Here's a comparison picture.
- Naito is usually wearing something that says, "Never Mind". The Sex Pistols have an album called "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols".
On a couple of Sid Vicious shirts I've seen, the words embedded are usually just "Nevermind".
- Takeshi has a badge that says, "Rock the House" in chapter 90. This could be a reference to the British band, Gorillaz.
- Tsuna wears a shirt in chapter 7 that reads, "Seal Kay Independent". This is actually a real name brand clothing company in Italy
called "Seal Kay". The design prints are also similar to Dino's clothing.
× Changes/Edits in actual manga:
Because of the time limit an author has to release each chapter, there's usually modifications in the released version. Here are a few I found. There also
seems to be some change in dialog but right now, I'm just keeping it to modified panels. (Left is the magazine release, right is the book release.)
- Chapter 13: Irie Shoichi's balcony is fixed; Mom's dialog is different(here).
- Chapter 14: Ryohei's face expression is different(here).
- Chapter 16: The panel shows more of Hibari's face(here).
- Chapter 19: Haru's expression is changed; Boat is broken up differently(here).
- Chapter 24: I-Pin's blush marks are gone(top panel); Her stance is different(here).
- Chapter 24: I-Pin's blush marks are gone(here).
- Chapter 73: Gokudera's knowledge of Hibari's cellphone tone(here).
- Chapter 85: Kyoko's image; changed dialog(here).
- Chapter 140: Page 7's panels were altered and an extra page was added.
